Maribel del Rosario Trejos Murillo, 68, an outstanding sister and wonderful aunt, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Maribel was born in March 1957 in Managua, Nicaragua. She studied agricultural engineering and worked for the Nicaraguan Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA) for over two decades. A devoted and loving aunt, she cared deeply for her sister Mireya’s children—Gisselle, Julio, Roger, and Eduardo Blanco—as well as her brother Silvio’s son, Dexter Trejos. She embraced her nieces and nephews as her own, and they loved her as a second mother.
In 2000, Maribel moved to Southern California, where she quickly fell in love with its pleasant weather, rich gastronomy, and vibrant Hispanic community. A caring and devoted sister, she lovingly supported her brother Gonzalo during his long battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), which spanned over a decade. During her time in California, she shared many meaningful moments with her siblings—Silvio, Milena, and Freddy—and enjoyed watching her niece and nephew, Milena and Evenor, grow up. She also cherished her role as a grandaunt to Jovani and Samantha, her niece Milena’s children.
Maribel worked at Target from 2000 until her retirement at the end of 2024.
In 2025, Maribel visited Ohio, where she reunited with her grown nieces and nephews—Gisselle, Julio, Roger, and Eduardo Blanco. Together, they reminisced about their time in Nicaragua while creating new memories in the Midwest. She also had the joy of meeting the newest additions to her family—Martin, Julio’s son, and Emma, Eduardo’s daughter—and treasured every moment spent with the little ones.
Maribel was a loyal and selfless woman who consistently placed her family’s needs before her own. In difficult times, she relied on God’s strength, and her faith carried her through life’s challenges. Her life was defined by resilience, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. She is remembered with deep gratitude and admiration for the meaningful role she played in the lives of her family.
As part of her final wishes, Maribel’s remains will be returned to her hometown, Managua, Nicaragua, where she will be reunited with her beloved mother, Casta Leonor Murillo Pichardo, and her sister Mireya. Her funeral services will take place on April 18, 2026, as family and friends gather to honor a life defined by faith, love, and devotion. Though she is no longer with us in body, Maribel’s spirit lives on in every story shared, every lesson remembered, and every act of love she inspired.
