On October 23, 2023, the Garcia family lost a husband, father, grandfather, brother and to many, a great friend. He passed away peacefully next to his kids’ wife, and family at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Jose Guillermo Garcia was born in Mascota, Jalisco Mexico on May 20, 1946. His Parents were Paula Gomez and Jose Guadalupe Garcia. Guillermo’s siblings (living include Rafael, Ignacio and Maria Del Carmen, deceased are Josephina and Victoria). He was known as Memo, Willy or Guillermo to many of you. On February 14, 1976, he married Mercedes Martinez in his hometown and lasting 47 years happily married. He followed the American dream moving to Long Beach, Ca where he worked as a cook. Guillermo had 3 kids (Cesar Guillermo, Claudia, and Elizabeth Garcia). As the family grew the grand-kids followed with Alina, Gabriehl, Joshuah, Annabelle, Anthony and Isaac. Later on, he became an American citizen one of his big accomplishments and officially changed his name to Guillermo Garcia. For the last 24 years before he retired at the age of 64, he worked as a handyman. After retirement he followed his love and passion as a carpenter. He would use his talents to make chairs, dressers, bedframes, tables for friends and family. He loved spending time with his grandkids taking them on walks, fun day at the park. Being home with his wife and kids was always important to him. We all shared many laughs with his story telling at every party or get together. There is no bigger smile, bigger heart, and caring man to making others happy. You will always live in our hearts , we love you
