Connie Rojas

Connie Rojas

Our dear mother, Connie Rojas, 95, of Commerce, California, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at Haven for Mom and Dad in La Habra, California.

Connie was born on April 15, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, to Ramiro and Carmen Del Campo. She grew up in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of East Los Angeles, where she attended Bridge Street Elementary School, Hollenbeck Junior High School, and Theodore Roosevelt High School.

After high school, Connie worked at a women’s clothing store on Brooklyn Avenue. She later joined her good friends Yolanda, Fanny, and Olga, working part-time at Fanny’s aunt Florence’s sewing shop, Sewing by Florence.

Mom met her future husband John on a blind date to Olvera Street Plaza in 1950. A year later on Mom’s birthday, they were married. Mom devoted herself to raising her family. As a stay-at-home mother, she discovered and nurtured her love of cooking, baking, sewing, and, most of all, bringing family and friends together. Our home was often filled with the wonderful aromas of her cooking and the laughter and conversation of family gatherings, holidays, and special occasions.

Once my siblings and I were old enough to care for ourselves, Mom returned to work with her best friend, Fanny, at the Monroy family-owned sewing shop, where she worked for nearly 10 years. In 1978, she began working as a dietary assistant at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center. She later transferred to the center’s Outpatient Pharmacy Department, where she worked as a pharmacy assistant.

After retiring, Mom embraced her new role as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Whenever her adult children needed extra help caring for their own children, Mom never hesitated. She made their comfort, happiness, and well-being a priority in her life. Her love and devotion to our father John, her children and extended family, and her amazing circle of friends created bonds that were truly special and lasting.

Mom’s greatest gift was the love she gave so freely. She was a caring wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, loyal friend, and the heart of our family. Her love, generosity, and the memories she created with all of us will remain in our hearts forever.

Connie is survived by her children, David (Rose), Richard (Ophelia), Evelyn (Rick), and Steve (Patricia); her grandchildren, Nathan, Lisa, Elaine, Regina, Richard Jr., Alison, Marci, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Angelique, and Katie; and her 18 great-grandchildren.

Mom was preceded in death by our beloved father, John, and our dear sister, Linda Garcia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s memory to The Rancho (Los Amigos) Foundation:
