What to do when a Death has Occurred

Our staff is experienced in helping families to make arrangements regardless of where the death Occured. We will handle all the arrangements properly and advise you of the best way to get your loved one back to the Los Angeles area. Because of the costs involved in other areas, it is most effective for you to call us directly to handle everything from the beginning.

Hospital
Tell the hospital that you have already chosen a funeral home. You may call us to let us know that the death has Occured, and set up an appointment to finalize arrangements. IF the hospital requires it, sign a release authorizing us to pick up your loved one.
Home
Call 911. Tell the police you have chosen Allen English & Estrada Funeral Home. Either the police will call us, or they will have you contact us.
Hospice Care
Call hospice. Tell them that you have chosen Allen English & Estrada Funeral Home. They will call and notify us.

If you are traveling
when death occurs, you should contact Allen English & Estrada Funeral Home before arranging any type of funeral disposition to prevent incurring additional unnecessary costs. If needed, we can assist you in making the most economical arrangements through a local funeral home in order to transfer your loved one to us.
outside the United States
when a person dies while traveling, you will need to notify the U.S. Embassy in the country where the death Occured (although officials in that foreign country may notify the embassy for you). Also, immediately contact us at Allen English & Estrada Funeral Home, and we will work with the embassy on your behalf to return your loved one to the United States.
medical examiner is involved
If the deceased is not under a doctor’s care, or has been involved in an accident or under suspicious circumstances, the medical examiner will need to determine the cause of death. We will work with the Medical Examiner’s office to transfer your loved one to our funeral home.
