Dolores Carillo Zavala was born in Nogales/Sonora, Mexico to Amado and Ramona Carrillo. As a young girl she enjoyed her family of five sisters and two brothers. Throughout her life, she developed a strong passion and love of the Lord. The simple and true statement “todos con Dios” was one of her favorite phrases to speak. Married at 16 to Juan Miranda, they welcomed six children together: Johnny, Hector, Tina, Javier, Jose, and Gloria. In 1968, she moved with her family to Los Angeles, where she met and married Ron Kowalski. They had three more children: Sylvia, Ron Junior, and William. Dolores always said “I’m an LA woman!” She loved her home, the City of Angels. In 1991, she met and later married Juan Zavala. The family welcomed Juan, a man of true character and love. Dolores’ legacy lives on in her children, many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. The Carillo, Kowalski, and Zavala families have lost a beloved matriarch, but heaven has gained a true believer. May the joy of the Lord fill all of our days as it did Dolores.
